Digital Humanities at Michigan State University is proud to continue the Global DH Symposium into its historic tenth year, and its third year as a combination of virtual and in-person events. Digital Humanities has been a key site for interrogating narratives about disruption, connection, virtuality, surveillance, algorithmic bias, data and resistance, the digital divide, and digital accountabilities. Focused on these issues, we work at the intersections of critical DH; race and ethnicity; feminism, intersectionality, and gender; and anti-colonial and postcolonial frameworks. Scholarship that works across borders with a focus on transnational partnerships and globally accessible data is especially welcome. Lastly, we define the term “humanities” rather broadly to incorporate the discussion of issues that encourage interdisciplinary understanding of the humanities.

The Social Science History Association is an interdisciplinary organization that publishes a journal, Social Science History, organizes an annual conference, supports graduate student travel to the conference, and awards book and article prizes. With scholars from history, economics, sociology, demography, anthropology, and other social sciences, the association brings together scholars in thematic networks where they can explore common questions. 2025 conference will be held in Chicago, Illinoi from November 20 - November 23, 2025 at the Palmer House Hotel. This year’s theme is “Complexity and its Consequences.” The Call for Papers and conference submission system is now open.

Formed in 1967, the Society for Historical Archaeology (SHA) is the largest scholarly group concerned with the archaeology of the modern world (A.D. 1400-present). The main focus of the society is the era since the beginning of European exploration. SHA promotes scholarly research and the dissemination of knowledge concerning historical archaeology. The society is specifically concerned with the identification, excavation, interpretation, and conservation of sites and materials on land and underwater.

The SIA is made up of members, world-wide, who have a strong interest in preserving, interpreting and documenting our industrial past and heritage. Whatever your profession or favorite pursuit, if you share our interest in the industrial past, we welcome you to join us. The SIA is the North American forum for those who share an interest in industrial archeology. Through the organization’s four principal activities-an annual spring conference, an annual fall tour, semiannual journal, and quarterly newsletter-SIA members share their knowledge and raise awareness of the value of preserving the physical evidence of industry and technology. The society’s annual conferences and fall tours are held in various cities and areas of the United States and Canada having a significant legacy of industrial activity. Both activities feature field trips to industrial and engineering sites of interest, including “process tours” of still-active plants not normally open to the public.
