What is the school records dataset?
In 2017 our partners at Calumet-Laurium-Keweenaw High School gave the Keweenaw Time Traveler Team access to over 50 student record books that had been archived in the CLK basement for over 100 years! These volumes list the children in each teacher's classroom for each semester covering the years 1904-1926 — that's almost 30,000 children!

What can I discover using this data?
These records are especially valuable as they contain student information such as names, ages, grades, addresses, attendance records, and vaccination records. They also record when a student left the school, if applicable. The Time Traveler team was able to connect the children to other records in the Keweenaw Time Traveler through addresses and family members, thus augmenting historical information available about children who often don't show up in City Directories and other kinds of municipal records. Now you can follow a person’s story not just during their adulthood but back through their childhoods as well.
