Time Travelers Geoff, Kevin, and Savannah Present at the Social Science Research Conference4/25/2016 Research Associates Geoff Muir, Kevin Brefka, and Savannah de Luca recently presented posters at the annual Social Science Research Conference at Michigan Tech. Geoff and Savannah's work harnessed the Keweenaw Time Traveler to explore the 'Geography of Drink' around the Keweenaw from 1880-2010 Kevin's work used the Time Traveler to create an online web app for the Calumet Historic District Commission. The web app allows the Commission to manage the district more efficiently and will be used as a tool for local economic development Congrats to Geoff, Kevin, and Savannah! By: Don Lafreniere

Dr. Don Lafreniere and Dr. Sarah Scarlett hosted an interactive brown bag talk about the Keweenaw Time Traveler project to the Department of Social Sciences at Michigan Tech. The talk outlined the progress to date on the construction of the Historical Spatial Data Infrastructure (aka- Time Machine!) and the planned activities for the next several years. There was a discussion of how we will be looking to engage Citizen Historian volunteers to help prepare data and contribute their own knowledge of Copper Country places and how the time machine can be used in research and teaching on both historic and contemporary topics in the Keweenaw.
